In today’s era of globalization and rapid development, achieving high efficiency in any field requires not only deep knowledge but also physical health. The role of sports and physical activity is incomparable in shaping students into well-rounded individuals. For this reason, the development of student sports is regarded as one of the most critical requirements of the modern educational system.
On April 7 of this year, a video-selector meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was held to discuss priority tasks in the field of physical culture and sports. It was noted that over the past nine years, 1,774 modern sports grounds have been built in more than 1,500 neighborhoods (mahallas), and over 200 large sports facilities and nearly 4,000 private sports clubs have begun operations. The number of young people professionally engaged in sports has doubled, while the number of athletes in Olympic teams has increased twofold, and threefold for Paralympic sports. Currently, each of the 26 Olympic sports federations is headed by ministers and heads of republican organizations. It was also mentioned that last year, regional governors (khokims) were appointed as Presidential representatives for the development of the Olympic movement on the ground.
As noted during the meeting, the current achievements could have been even higher if industry officials, governors, and the heads of the 26 federations had visited the 207 universities, 15 Olympic and Paralympic centers, 310 sports schools, and 16 sports boarding schools to create the necessary conditions for training champions and securing Olympic licenses.
First and foremost, sport is one of the primary tools for strengthening human health. Increasing physical activity among students improves not only their physical but also their psychological well-being. Regular exercise reduces stress, enhances concentration, and helps achieve higher results in the learning process. This, in turn, serves to improve the quality of education.
At the same time, sport fosters social activity among student youth. Through team games, essential skills such as cooperation, responsibility, and leadership are formed. These qualities will be of great importance in their future professional careers. Therefore, sport not only shapes a healthy lifestyle but also directly impacts personal development.
Furthermore, it is essential to promote a healthy lifestyle in educational institutions, popularize sports activities, and effectively organize physical education classes. Implementing sports programs with the help of modern technologies also serves to increase student interest. It is worth noting that the development of student sports is an essential condition for preparing healthy, educated, and competitive personnel.
After all, a healthy generation is the solid foundation for the progress of society.
